To ensure safe civil works on slopes, we have two different ground anchoring points available. Depending on whether the place to secure is accessible to an excavator (DAT-35) or not (ARP-02). Both anchor devices comply with European standard EN ISO 795 Class A. They are considered as structural anchor points as they are fixed in a permanent manner. Securing works near slopes is not easy, as in most cases there is nothing near the slope to fix an anchor device with the strength required by the European standard EN ISO 795.

Ground anchoring points AITANA SAFETY – how they work?

Regardless of the ground anchoring point we finally choose, installation and application is quite similar. In both cases, after embedding the device into the ground, an anchor tester (Resistance Witness) TEST-10 must validate installation (10 Kn strength test). Anchor tester TEST-10 is a steel ring, which allows easily check that the ground anchoring points meet the requirements of European standard EN ISO 795. Resistance Witness TEST-10 has a tensile strength between 10 and 12 KN.

In order to test the strength of ground anchoring points before first use, simply attach the steel ring tester to the force application machine in the direction in which the anchor device should work.  Resistance Witness TEST-10 are test specimens endowed with a breaking section calibrated to break under a determined traction force. You can provide also a strength test by means of a certified tester.

Both the DAT.XX and the ARP-02 ground anchoring points serve to protect up to one person at a time. In both cases, they can be used also as anchor points for lifeline system installation (UNE-EN 795 B or C), provided adequate tensile strength is ensured (pass TEST-10 – 10 kN strength).

Ground anchoring point DAT-XX

Ground anchoring point DAT-XX is intended for embedding into the ground with an excavator at a depth of min. 1,5 m. The device consists of a steel plate and a plastic belt clip. The standard DAT-35 has a service life of up to 18 months. If the device is used outdoors for a longer time, then our ground anchoring point DAT-35 I made of AISI 304 stainless steel should be chosen.

Securing civil works on slopes by means of our ground anchor point ARP-02

Our ARP-02 ground anchor point is intended for places where an excavator cannot access or it is better to strike into the ground to fix the anchor device. By means of the special FL-02 surface leveler, our ground anchor point ARP-02 can be fixed even in soft soil. ARP-02  anchoring device is made of galvanised steel and AISI 304 stainless steel, which guarantees a long service life.

Advantages of ground anchor points when securing civil works on slopes

    • very economical solution
    • reliability and functionality
    • different models available depending on the type of work carried out and the place of installation
    • they can be self-assembled following the manufacturer’s instructions
    • possibility of using as anchor points to install a lifeline system
    • easy and quick installation
    • you can move anytime to another hazard area. Reusable.

Legal basis – European standard EN ISO 795 Class A

European standard EN ISO 795 – Personal fall protection equipment – Anchor devices – Requirements and tests – defines test methods and requirements that anchoring devices must meet. In addition, the above standard introduces a classification in six different classes for anchoring devices.

Our DAT.XX and ARP.02 ground anchor points have been tested and certified in accordance with European standard EN ISO 795 as class A1. They are also known as structural anchor points because they are fixed in a permanent manner. Both devices embedded permanently into the ground, are subjected to 10 KN pull-out tests in the direction in which they will be used before first use.

AITANA SAFETY - reliable fixed and portable anchor points

For more than ten years, AITANA SAFETY has been offering innovative technology to ensure safety work at height. Depending on the type of hazard, as well as the characteristics of the holding structure, we offer a variety of roof anchoring devices. All our anchor devices have been successfully tested by independent notified bodies in accordance with the European standard EN ISO 795.

Final conclusions

Our DAT.XX or ARP-02 ground anchoring points allow securing workers carrying out civil works on slopes. They can even serve as anchor points for EN ISO 795 C horizontal lifeline systems. This significantly increase the safety area around the slope. Both devices have been tested and certified according to the requirements of EN ISO 795 as Class A. They are considered as structural anchor points.
