Aluminium M-LADDER fixed ladders – Lightweight design and universal installation

M-LADDER fixed vertical ladders are made of aluminium, making them significantly lighter than traditional steel ladders. The low weight of the aluminium structure simplifies and speeds up installation. Above all, it allows direct mounting to roof cladding or building facades without drilling through metal sheets in search of a structural element, as required with heavy steel ladders.

Direct fixing to sandwich panels from 0.4 mm – A unique solution on the market

The key competitive advantage of M-LADDER aluminium fixed access ladders is their ability to be securely mounted directly to facade sandwich panels or trapezoidal sheet metal with a minimum thickness of just 0.4 mm. No other ladder on the market allows installation on such thin sheet metal. Unlike heavy steel ladders, the low weight of the aluminium structure – combined with a special fixing kit (DBS2 Ø 6 x 25 mm self-drilling screws with specialized EPDM sealing washers) eliminates the need to drill right through the facade in search of the building’s main structural elements. This solution guarantees 100% waterproofing integrity and significantly reduces installation time, lowering overall installation costs.

M-LADDER vertical ladders can also be fixed to reinforced concrete walls (including insulated walls) using adjustable mounting brackets made of corrosion-resistant S235 steel.

Technical features and dimensions of the M-LADDER fixed vertical ladder

The M-LADDER system is engineered for maximum user comfort and maintenance-free operation over many years:

  • The widest fixed ladder on the market: the internal width of the ladder is as much as 588 mm (external width 636 mm), and the safety-cage diameter is 750 mm. This generous clearance allows workers in full OHS gear to climb comfortably and carry service tools.
  • Anti-slip rungs: square rungs measuring 29.5 × 29.5 mm provide a secure footing in all weather conditions. Rung spacing: 300 mm.
  • High corrosion resistance: raw aluminium construction (6063 alloy) guarantees C3 corrosion class (in accordance with EN ISO 12944-2) with requiring additional maintenance. Upon client request, powder-coated components in any RAL color are also available. Ladder side profiles measure: 65 × 24 mm. High-quality finish ensures long-term service life without special maintenance.
  • Fast and intuitive assembly: Module joining is performed using patented expansion connectors and hammer-head bolts, reducing the number of tools needed on-site and speeding up installation.

Safe roof transition and access restriction devices

Ensuring a safe transition from the ladder onto the roof surface as well as installing an access gate are legal requirements. The M-LADDER system includes:

  • Freestanding parapet crossover kit: to avoid drilling into roof waterproofing, we offer a freestanding step-down system supported by counterweights (12.5 kg). This ensures continuous protection and safe crossovers over parapet walls, when stepping off the ladder onto the roof surface.
  • Unauthorised access prevention: We offer lower ladder closure devices to prevent unauthorized entry, including simple lockable blocking doors, full-length protective doors, half-doors, and an internal hinged trapdoor fitted inside the safety cage. All elements feature padlock locking capabilities.
  • Self-closing access gates: in compliance with EN ISO 14122-4, the entry point from the ladder onto the roof must be protected by an inward-opening self-closing access gate.

Technical requirements and standards for fixed vertical ladders

M-LADDER fixed roof access ladders meet all requirements of EN 14122-4. In accordance with health & regulations and EN ISO 14122-4:

  • Safety cage (ladder hoop): mandatory when the climbing height exceeds 3000 mm. The lower edge of the cage must sit between 2200 mm and 3000 mm above the ladder entry level. The safety cage consists of horizontal hoops and vertical uprights.
  • Rest platforms: for single-flight fixed ladders, the maximum continuous climbing height is 10 000 mm. For greater heights, a multi-flight ladder arrangement with staggered rest platforms installed at maximum intervals of 6000 mm must be used.
  • Fixing: the first pair of mounting brackets must be positioned between the first and second rungs, with a maximum vertical spacing of 2400 mm between brackets.
  • Rungs: position of the first rung – between 100 and 400 mm above ground level. The top rung must sit at the exact same level as the roof exit platform.

Important Note: As a collective fall protection system (CPE), the ladder provides safe access but must never be used as an anchor point for personal fall arrest equipment (PPE) – it is an access structure, not a personal anchoring point.
