Fall arrest slings EN ISO 795 are intended to create safety places where fasten personal protective equipment (PPE) preventing from fall hazards. It is an ideal solution to temporarily secure operators working at height when collecting materials at the construction site, working near openings for elevators, balconies, terraces, etc… Fall arrest slings are made of strong polyester webbing, which guarantees the loads laid down in the standard EN ISO 795 to prevent a fall from height.

Fall arrest slings EN ISO 795 are fixed inside a reinforced concrete structure. The device has a loop that is fasten on the reinforcing bars before pouring concrete. On the other side, the fall arrest straps have a steel clamp to fasten the operator’s personal protective equipment (PPE). Once the fall hazard is over, only need to cut the webbing sling and remove the device. Fall arrest slings are designed to secure only one person at once.

Fall arrest straps are also useful in situations as: people working on roofs, bridges or viaducts.

Legal basis – European standard EN ISO 795

European standard EN ISO 795 – Personal fall protection equipment – Anchor devices – Requirements and tests – defines test methods and requirements that roof anchoring devices must meet. In addition, the above standard introduces a classification in six different classes for roof anchoring devices. Fall arrest slings have been tested and positively certified as class A1. These kind of devices are called “structural anchor points” as they are permanently fixed to a supporting structure. The fall arrest straps can be used in combination with a retractable fall arrester in accordance with EN ISO 360.

We should always remember that Council Directive 89/391/EEC, defining preventive action principles, prioritizes collective protection equipment (CPE) over personal protective equipment (PPE) such as EN ISO 795 anchorage devices. Legal provisions clearly state that lifelines, anchor points as well as other roof anchoring devices certified according to EN ISO 795 standard, should only be used when it is not possible to install collective protection equipment (CPE).
