Crossover ladders VECTAWAY® are intended to get safely over obstacles located on the roofs of buildings or industrial halls. Those obstacles are usually parapets, casings, turrets, expansion joints, pipes, electrical installations, or even moving on roofs of different heights. Our crossover stairs are made of aluminium so it does not constitute any load on the roof. They are certified in accordance with the European standard EN ISO 14122-2. Crossover ladders are a simple and cheap solution to secure roof access.

Roof walkways for crossing obstacles

VECTAWAY® crossover roof ladders (also known as roof walkways) are a modular system comprising just 7 components. The handrail, knee-rail and toe boards on both sides of the walkway are supplied pre-welded from the factory, meaning installation takes around 20 minutes (2 people). For example, a 3×3-step platform (height 756 mm, length 2558 mm) weighs just 168 kg – a significant difference compared to heavy steel walkways, particularly on lightweight roofs with low load-bearing capacity. Plastic counterweights (2 × 12.5 kg per post) and rubber washers ensure the system’s stability and complete roof watertightness, without the need to drill any holes in the roof cladding.

If the parapet height to be crossed is low, VECTAWAY® parapet wall ladders may be an alternative solution – a lighter and cheaper option for crossing over the parapet.

Crossover ladders uses

We have designed VECTAWAY® crossover ladders to ensure safely and comfortable get over obstacles on the roofs. Thanks to their 25 kg plastic counterweights attached to the device arms, we can avoid any drilling on the roof membrane. Thanks to that, system is stable and able to carry the forces specified in the legal provisions. Other fixings are also available.

Because our crossover ladders are designed as a modular structure, the assembly of them is quite simple. Crossover stairs assembling consist of joining ready-made elements and screwing them together in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Installation takes less than 10 minutes (2 people). Most customers do their own assembly. This saves time and installation costs.

VECTAWAY® crossover ladders are made of 6063 T6 aluminum with an excellent finish. The standard raw aluminium finish ensures a C3 corrosion category. Other finishes on request, such as anodized aluminium, thermal varnishing and matched to any RAL colour. It is a lightweight device that does not require any maintenance.

Advantages installing VECTAWAY® crossover ladders

    • non-slip serrated profile ensures the maximum level of safety.
    • made of aluminum. They do not require any maintenance as in the case of steel ladders
    • modular design ensures very quick assembly. Most customers do their own assembly. This saves time and installation costs.

Legal basis – European standard EN ISO 14122-2
