Vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® is intended to secure people climbing ladders, masts or chimneys. In economic sectors such as telecommunications, wind and nuclear power plants, there are often very high ladders and a serious risk for users of falling from height. Vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® has been certified by the independent APAVE notified body in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 353-1:2014 + A1:2017 European standard.
How vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® arrest a fall from a ladder?
The principle of operation of our vertical lifeline system is based on a self-locking device (CMBV mobile runner – slider) which ensures ladder climber free movement along the wire rope fixed directly on the ladder. In the event of a fall, the CMBV self-locking mechanism immediately clamps onto the rope, arresting the fall. This way, we guarantee an effective fall arrest solution while climbing high fixed ladders. Vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® does not require any handling while being used.
Vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® components are:
- special brackets adapted to the ladder rungs
- CMBV mobile runner (with self-locking mechanism) ensuring ladder climber free movement along the wire rope and blocking user’s fall. The integrated shock absorber limits the efforts in case of fall. Mechanical coding integrated precluding wrong uses.
- wire rope made of stainless steel AISI 316 – 8mm (7×7) – breaking strength > 40 Kn. Corrosion resistant.
- EVB3 lower bracket equipped with a 50 kg tension indicator, which allows controlling the appropriate tension of the steel wire rope. Also enables rapid attachment of the runner.
- • extension bracket PHR2 is fixed to the top of the ladder. Facilitates safe exit of the ladder operator onto the roof. Adapts to all rungs distances.
Advantages of using vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE®
- user-friendly. Easy to use even with gloves.
- all components made of stainless steel. Resistant.
- the system ensures safe access to the roof, thanks to the possibility of installing an extension bracket at the top of the ladder.
- brackets adapted to all types of ladders
- equipped with a tension indicator located in the lower part of the ladder.
Legal basis – European standard EN ISO 353-1:2014 + A1:2017
Vertical lifeline system VERTILIGNE® together with our CMBV mobile runner have been certified by the independent APAVE SUDEUROPE SAS notified body in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 353-1:2014 +A1: 2017 European standard – Personal fall protection equipment – Guided type fall arresters including an anchor line – Part 1: Guided type fall arresters including a rigid anchor line. CMBV mobile runner complies with the Council Directive 89/686/EEC (Personal Protective Equipment – PPE).
Both fall arrest devices successfully passed the static and dynamic tests required by the above-mentioned standard. The certificate of conformity was issued by the independent notified body APAVE SUDEUROPE S.A.S (n° 0082/0588/160/11/20/0728).
