On this blog, you’ll find advice, standards and project examples relating to anchor points. Anchor points and lifelines to EN 795 are intended to create points for attaching personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from height. However, we should always remember that Council Directive 89/391/EEC, which defines the principles of preventive action, gives priority to collective protective equipment (CPE) – such as safety railings or safety nets – over PPE. Legal provisions clearly state that lifelines, anchor points and other devices certified to EN 795 should only be used when it is not possible to install collective protection. The European standard EN 795 defines the test methods and requirements that such devices must meet.
